Is 21 too old to get started with a serious, successful music career?

I'm just wondering. If you're a 21 year old female (that's into indie, NOT pop or dance music) is that considered too old to even think about sending out demos and stuff like that.

It's a little random, just some thoughts. It may be confusing but that's my brain, but I want opinions..

Question #5:

Can tuition be tax deductable if paid from 529 funds?

I have a BA in Music and plan to start part time employment working for myself (playing, teaching, etc.) I have reviewed IRS Publication 970 ( Click Here ) and based on this am confident that I can get a Masters in Music, and treat it as a business expense, assuming that I am already working. (Reason: it further trains me in a job that I am already working at rather than preparing me for a new job.)

However, I am also planning to save up for the Masters Degree before I start. It seems reasonable to save for the degree in a 529 plan so I can avoid taxes on any gains or interest (and my state, Maryland, also provides a tax deduction for the contributions to the plan).

My question is: Can I both save for tuition using a 529 (and get those tax breaks while I am saving) and also claim the (part-time) educational expense as a business deduction (to get the tax breaks offsetting my earnings after I pay the tuition)?

I'm in my freshman year in High School and there is this really good looking girl in my History class. She has made CLEAR signs she likes me, or at least likes flirting with me, she scratches my arms, "accidentally" touches my hand and doesn't move it away. Talks to me every chance she gets in that class, looks at me and when she sees im looking at her too she looks me in the eyes a second then starts giggling and looks away. Anyway, I hang out with the rednecks, though I am NOT a redneck in any sense of the word, I just eat with them because one of my friends is a redneck and eats with them. However, she is a Goth, but we like the same type of music and such even though I dress more errrr "normal". Anyway, we only talk in the one class as when shes not in there (the only class she has with me) she is hanging out with other Goth/Emos. How should I go about asking her out? How would our "groups" complicate things? or would they? Also a senior like picked her up and started laughing and she just grinned and walked away and then back and started casually talking to them.......does this mean she likes the guy more than me or something? I dunno I'm probably just paranoid but thanks for listening to that whole bit!

Does blogging hurt a rappers career?

This is something I've been thinking about for a while.. because I realized that certain rappers don't have much respect in the game today because they blog alot. In particular, I'm talking about Joe Budden. He blogs very often, so some rappers and hiphop fans don't like him. I'll be honest, he's pretty alright as a rapper.. but he's not given much recognition for his music (I think) because he "Talks too much".

Anyway, how do you guys feel about this? Is it fair that some rappers can't be respected and taken seriously because they blog and use sites like twitter frequently?

I want to educate myself in history -- where do I start?

I am fascinated by every time in history: the Byzantines, the Greeks, the Egyptians, all the way up to the Edwardian era, Victorian era, and the World Wars. Not only is the history of the world interesting to me but also the history of things, such as the history of music, literature, philosophy, etc. Now, the problem is, since I have so much time on my hands and a lot of space in my bookshelf to spare, I can't bring myself to start somewhere. I am passionate about learning, and one of the reasons I'm motivated to delve into this subject is because I am sadly uninformed on a lot of major events in time, and am tired of feeling inferior when I am around cultured people at the dinner table. So, do I just start at any point in time, and go up and go down however I fancy? Or is it better to start way back from the beginning and work my way up all the way to recent events?

Why does everyone at school either call me emo or ask me if I'm emo?

sure, my favorite colour is black, but that doesnt make me emo. I also wear black every day to school. I'm only in 6th grade, so how could I be emo?? I thought you had to be at least 17 years old or something like that... My bangs sweep over my left eye. I wear a black studded belt over my shirt and I also wear some black gloves I bought at Hot Topic. Also, when Im on the bus, I'll be listening to Alternative Rock or just plain Rock music. Im practicly ALWAYS laughing and smiling, so I dont get why people just come out of no where and say "Are you emo?" And if I answer "No", they'll ask if Im goth. Again, I would still say "No" -_- Im just really sick of the idea of labels and I wish it would stop... Please help. why do i like to escape buy listening to music i can't go a day with out listening to music i nearly flipped before because headphones didn't work i don't understand it i have listened to music since i was a kid music being rap and uk rap if i listened to music for a little bit for a day i am alright i have it full blast in my headphones when i am on my own i no it's strange but true lol
