Question: Why does everyone at school either call me emo or ask me if I'm emo?

( Back )

Answer #1:

Well, first of all any one can be emo or goth. Your hair over your eye doesn't help. By your description it sounds like you would be goth but your not. Just ask them if they are emo right back!

Answer #2:

cause you look emo. duh.

Answer #3:

it's because of how you dress.
and real emos/punk/etc. are in highschool or maybe in 8th grade. that can change.
If you want it to stop, you have to get the hair out of your face, maybe wear a colorful bow in a ponytail.
not wear gloves from hot topic.
and stop wearing black.

That is if you really really want it to stop, personally I wouldn't be able to stop wearing my favorite clothes and fingerless gloves now.

Answer #4:

Labels are stupid. lol I hate when pple ask r u an emo/goth/skeet/chav or watever it is. People just like to have other people categorised so they don't have to get to know them or so that they can pretend they no lots about pple. Basicaly u have to ignore it. It's hard to get pple to stop asking. Your proper friends shouldn't be like that though and there's nothing wrong with the way you dress or ur music or nything. You just have to ignore them. I hope this helps. :)

ALSO- DON'T CHANGE URSELF/CLOTHES like those other pple r saying. If u like ur clothes then stick to em!

Answer #5:

ppl nowadays are superficial. they only see skin deep :S

Answer #6:

because you dress like a stereotypical emo, bangs over one eye, black gloves, studded belt, black clothes, you shop at hot topic which is emo central, actually 17 is the age most grow out of their emo phase, ive seen plenty of 6th grade emos. it doesnt matter if you smile and laugh a lot, most emos do, the thing about emos is they have no real problems so they like to pretend they do by wearing clotes like that, even though they are happy people. get some different clothes, you can still wear black, just do it tastefully and not everyday, get rid of the gloves and belt and get a new haircut and you wont have this problem anymore, if you dont want to change your look, then stop caring about what they think you are, they will continue to think this, but just ignore them.

Answer #7:

Because you dress in black and let your hair hang in your eyes. You're in 6th grade, for god's sake. Enjoy being a kid before you start down Fashion Poseur Lane. When I was a kid I didn't even own a black garment until I was over 18 and had to buy a black dress for a funeral. Dressing all in black is for fakes and poseurs. Ditch the black and stop looking for negative attention.
